HERSHEY opened the preseason on Sunday with a 5-4 win over the Norfolk Admirals at GIANT Center. It was a win that may not have counted in the standings, but don’t tell Ben Boudreau that. The BEARS scored first Sunday with a goal from rookie Michael Dubuc just 1:26 into the game, and it proved to be the only goal of ...Continued |

It's the Bears and the Norfolk Admirals Sunday at 5:00 p.m., the first preseason game of three in this 2008 exhibition season. The Admirals won't be bringing two of their big guns that have already been assigned from Tampa Bay in the forms of Brandon Bochenski and Zenon Konopka. The Bears won't be dressing too many big names in today's ...Continued |

It's an exciting morning in Bears Nation, and not just because Hershey will take to the ice later on this Sunday in preseason action at GIANT Center. After a long summer of trying to pull it together, I'm happy to announce today we have a new internet provider to stream audio of Hershey Bears Hockey for the 2008-09 season. Starting ...Continued |

Bob Woods began his first full season behind the Hershey bench Thursday night as he and assistant coach Mark French officially kicked off Hershey's 71st training camp. Woods is certainly no stranger to the home dressing room at GIANT Center, but it was a big first for him tonight. It's his first camp as head coach after ascending to the ...Continued |

The official release will be coming shortly, but Hershey's training camp will open Friday night with many players coming in from Washington. Here are who is on the way from D.C. Friday afternoon in time for a Friday night practice. I don't believe everyone will be on the ice (not sure many of them will be) Friday night, but I'm ...Continued |

Just about ready for face-off here in Washington. It was great to see Tyler Sloan out there during warm-ups. He'll be number 89 tonight, and skating with Mike Green. Not too bad for a guy just two years ago Doug Yingst had to call after his season was over to skate for Hershey against Portland in the 2006 Conference Finals. ...Continued |

It's the Caps and the Carolina Hurricanes here in Washington this evening as the two teams meet for the second time in as many nights. It's good to be back here in the District, even though the game doesn't mean QUITE as much as the last time the 'Canes came to D.C. in early April. Washington won in Raleigh last ...Continued |

Courtesy of the Washington PR department and hot off the wire, here is a picture of the Bruce Boudreau bobblehead that will be given away on Friday, November 14 at Verizon Center. Bruce is sporting his tux, and also his Jack Adams Trophy for NHL coach of the year. If you were a fan of the Bears during Bruce's stay ...Continued |

As the beginning of camp approaches this Friday, I wanted to give you a first look at what the team considers its potential training camp roster. For those of you that have attended training camp in the past, this is the sheet we usually hand out so you can see height, weight and stats from last year. Keep in mind ...Continued |

My originally scheduled trip to D.C. today has been postponed until Thursday, upon learning that many members of this year's Hershey squad are likely to play Thursday night in the home game at Verizon Center against Carolina. It will be good to see a lot of the guys get a chance to play in the Red, White and Blue on ...Continued |

For those who have been asking (and there are a lot of you out there), here is a thumbnail of what this year's camp schedule will look like. Note times and places are subject to change, but this is a pretty good bet of what it will look like. Practices are free and open to the public. Just check the ...Continued |

A quick programming note: I'll be in D.C. on Tuesday at Kettler covering practice as the Caps prepare for the Carolina Hurricanes later on this week. Mike Vogel gives us an excellent account of Thursday's Rookie game at Kettler between the Caps and Flyers, a game in which Washington prevailed 7-0. For BEARS fans, it's even better than that, with two goaltenders potentially ticketed for central PA playing very well. There were several members of Philly's rookie team that will pull on a Phantoms sweater in ...Continued |

This will be a terrific interview this season whenever our paths cross. Lebanon Daily News beatwriter Dan Sernoffsky called me this morning with sad news for long time BEARS fans. Defenseman Mike Haworth, who played for the Chocolate and White from 1979-1982, died last month in a helicopter crash near Terrace, British Columbia. He was 53.
