The Bears returned to the ice Tuesday at Hersheypark Arena for practice, in preparation for Saturday's regular season opener at home against the Norfolk Admirals. More on the news of the day coming up (including Chris Bourque being put on waivers?!?), but for now, here is the latest and greatest JWH video from the arena.
1. Head Coach Mark French, on telling players they're been assigned elsewhere, and the excitement surrounding Saturday night's Calder Cup ceremonies...
2. Bryan Helmer's thoughts on Saturday's ceremonies, including his son Cade looking on and wanting to see his ring...
3. Andrew Joudrey on watching the banner go to the rafters, getting married and memories of the summer with the Calder Cup...
4. Karl Alzner on returning to Hershey, and what it meant to win it all last year...
5. Mathieu Perreault on his impressive camp in Washington, and his hope of getting a few games with the Capitals this season...

This one has me a little stumped. 24 hours after Chris Bourque had "made the team" out of Washington training camp, he's been put on waivers by the club. Bruce Boudreau tells the Washington Post that Bourque will be in the lineup Thursday at Boston. Obviously that may not happen if Bourque gets claimed, but the curious part is why he was put on waivers at all. The only guess here is that it has something to do with the ongoing Michael Nylander "is he staying, is he going" saga. Betting this story isn't over yet...

Defenseman Brian Lee comes down, and another blueliner in Christoph Schubert clears waivers and comes to Binghamton. I had the Senators in my preseason rankings making the playoffs in the fourth position. I might be wrong. They might finish second or third. Schubert with St. Pierre and Hamel on the power play together? Yikes. Sources told me today that Hamel and St. Pierre played together in all situations during the preseason. Look out for Binghamton this year.
