PUCKHEAD AND PALIN FRIDAY IN ST LOUIS
Some tidbits to munch on on this Thursday:

First, in a JohnWaltonHockey.com exclusive, we've learned some more information about Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin's appearance in St. Louis Friday night. Palin will be dropping the ceremonial first puck Friday in St. Louis, much like in the fashion she did in Philadelphia a couple of weeks ago (see that discussion we had about the appropriateness of such an appearance if you'd like in the archives) But here's what you won't hear from the national media. The person who will escort Governor Palin to the edge of the ice and present her with the puck to drop? Yep, Hershey Bears legend Lamont "Puckhead" Buford, who is now the Events Manager for the Blues. If you see a clip of it tomorrow night, watch for him. If someone sees a good YouTube clip somewhere, send me the link so I can share it with the rest of the class. I wonder if the fans in STL will give her any better treatment than she got on Broad Street two weeks ago.

Not much news from practice on Thursday, where the boys are preparing for Saturday's encounter with the Binghamton Senators. Michal Neuvirth, as reported by many yesterday, is off to the Czech Republic where he will play this season unless the Bears need him later on. It would appear that Bobby Goepfert will back up Daren Machesney this weekend.

Monday night is a new "The Old Barn Hockey Show" with Frank Schofield and I on WTKT.com. Head coach Bob Woods will join us in studio Monday, and we're chasing one other interview as well. A reminder that our first live show will be at Fire Alley in Hershey on Monday, November 3 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Dean Arsene and Graham Mink will be our guests that night, so we look forward to seeing you all there for what hopefully will be the first of several live shows this season. Thanks to all of you that have tuned into the show in its first few weeks, we've had a terrific listenership already, and more exciting news about this show comes up this Monday. Stay tuned.
