I thought this might be worthy of discussion on a day where the Bears are off for six days. I preface this by saying I'm a closet political junkie, who spends as much time watching the issues of the day as I watch Sportscenter. However, I believe that the two should not cross over. No one listens to me for political commentary, they listen because they love hockey and likely the Hershey Bears. So I found it curious that at the intersection of the 2008 election and the opening of the 2008-09 NHL season sit Ed Snider and the Philadelphia Flyers. Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was soundly booed last night prior to Philly's home opener with the New York Rangers. Regardless of your political leanings, I think this was a bad move for the Flyers. My opinion: No one goes to a hockey game and wants to see partisan politics. I thought this from Thursday's Philadelphia Daily News summed it up very well. I'd be interested to hear your take on all of this. Either way, the Hockey Mom has joined the club with Mike Schmidt, Santa Claus and many others in getting booed in south Philadelphia. What do you think?
