GIT-R-DONE IN NEW YORK
Seemed like an appropriate title given that Larry the Cable Guy is at Giant Center tonight. (For the record, he’s got a REALLY nice bus. It was parked out back when we departed for the southern tier this afternoon.) The Bears look to extend its current winning streak to four games in a row Friday, visiting the Binghamton Senators in a 7:05 p.m. start. For those of you listening or watching via the Bears Radio Network tonight, you’ll want to head to our new Facebook page “Hershey Bears Radio Network” to join in our online discussion. We now have over 250 fans of the page, which gives everyone the chance to chat about the game with the rest of the group. As you’ve probably noticed by now, I also have been taking questions at intermission from fans, so if you have something tonight for me, you can post it there as well.

Here’s what’s going on as the Bears take on the B-Sens:

-Much like Wednesday night, the lead story is Hershey looking to officially clinch a 2009 Calder Cup playoff spot. The Chocolate and White did its part Wednesday by beating Toronto, but didn’t get the out of town help required from the Senators who needed to beat Philadelphia. Friday, all that is required is EITHER a Hershey win OR a Philadelphia loss in regulation/overtime/shootout. While it’s always big to officially nail down a postseason berth, a win tonight would be bigger perhaps than that. A victory would lift the Bears three point ahead of second place Bridgeport and seven points ahead of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Both of those teams are idle tonight, making this a really big game in hand. Hershey will still hold one game on Bridgeport going into tomorrow’s showdown with the Tigers, but be even with the Penguins. The Bears and flightless waterfowl will have eight games left going into Saturday, Bridgeport will have just seven.

-With the recall of Aucoin and Osala today, the lines will obviously be different tonight. Alexandre Giroux will be on the left side with Mathieu Perreault and Chris Bourque tonight. Francois Bouchard will be with Kyle Wilson and Andrew Gordon on the second line, with Darren Reid returning to the lineup with Jay Beagle and Graham Mink (a.k.a. the modified “Meatwagon” line). Grant McNeill, Andrew Joudrey and Steve Pinizzotto anchor the fourth line.

-On D tonight, Tyler Sloan is with Bryan Helmer, Karl Alzner and Sami Lepisto are a pair and Staffan Kronwall/Sean Collins make up the third pairing.
