DOGS IN TOWN WEDNESDAY NIGHT
The Hamilton Bulldogs, the franchise that denied the Bears a tenth Calder Cup title two years ago, return to Giant Center Wednesday night. It's the beginning of a stretch of four games in six nights for the Hershey, with road games in Binghamton and Syracuse sandwiching a home game Saturday with Norfolk.

Here's what's up tonight:

-Goaltender Daren Machesney will make his second start of the season against Hamilton. His first was arguably his worst of the season, allowing six goals in a 6-0 loss on October 29. A Hamilton native who wasn't happy with the result earlier in the year, I like the call of bringing him back tonight against the Dogs. Bob Woods told me on the pregame show tonight that he wants Kris Mayotte to get a game in this week, likely either Friday in Binghamton or Saturday at home vs. Norfolk.

-If you're looking for a heavyweight bout tonight, you're going to be disappointed. Kip Brennan and former Bears enforcer Ryan Flinn are both scratches tonight.

-Marc Denis will start against his former team for Hamilton. His first of four shutouts this season so far came against Hershey at Copps Coliseum.

-Dean Arsene will miss tonight's game as an injury precaution, Patrick Wellar is up from the ECHL to skate tonight.
